CITY OF MALOLOS—The mother of missing University of the Philippines student Sherlyn Cadapan on Wednesday said she wanted to see former Army Maj. Gen. Jovito Palparan Jr. at New Bilibid Prison to question him about her daughter.
Palparan was transferred to the national penitentiary on Wednesday night after he was convicted on Sept. 17 of kidnapping in the disappearance of Sherlyn Cadapan and another UP student, Karen Empeño, in 2006.
Erlinda Cadapan was in court with Karen’s mother, Concepcion Empeño, when Palparan was sentenced to life imprisonment.
“We want to be the first visitors he sees on his first day of the rest of his life languishing in jail,” said Erlinda Cadapan, mother of Sherlyn. “If he wants his sentence to be shortened, he should disclose where they have been keeping our daughters.”
She described Palparan’s prison sentence as “partial justice” because the families of the missing UP students still didn’t know what happened to the two women.
“We are still searching for our daughters. We will continue and will never tire of searching for them. The military should look for those responsible for their abduction,” Cadapan said.
