An Australian businessman was found dead with multiple stab wounds inside his office at a condominium building on Ortigas Avenue Extension in Pasig City on Tuesday afternoon.

The police identified the victim as Lambros Zervas, who had been running a carpet cleaning business in Metro Manila and Cebu province for several years.

A report to Supt. Rizalito Gapas, Pasig police chief, said Zervas was found dead at 4:45 p.m. after his wife asked someone to check up on him.

Investigation showed that the victim was stabbed repeatedly while a garbage bag was held over his head.

Gapas said the police had identified a person of interest, believed to be a resident of the condominium.

None of the victim’s personal belongings were missing, according to the case investigator, PO3 Oliver Baquiran.

The police were still securing footage from closed-circuit television cameras that might have recorded the incident.

The Australian Embassy had been informed about the killing, Gapas said. —JHESSET O. ENANO AND CEDRIX PEREZ
