Magnitude 5.1 quake hits Surigao del Norte — Phivolcs

A 5.1 magnitude earthquake jolted Surigao del Norte before dawn Wednesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said in a tweet.
Phivolcs put the epicenter at San Francisco town in Surigao Del Norte, with a depth of 17 kilometers.

The quake was felt at Intensity V in Surigao City, Intensity IV in Pintuyan, Southern Leyte; and Intensity II in Palompon and Palo, Leyte.
Aftershocks are expected, Phivolcs warned.
The magnitude 5.1 temblor followed a magnitude 4.7 quake eight hours earlier at the same general area.
The Tuesday afternoon earthquake at 3:53 p.m. was felt at Intensity IV in Surigao City and San Francisco, Surigao Del Norte; Intensity III in Tagana-an and Mainit, Surigao Del Norte; San Francisco and San Ricardo, Southern Leyte; Intensity II in Bacuag, Surigao Del Norte, and Intensity I in- Butuan City and Claver, Surigao Del Norte. /cbb
