Police in Northern Mindanao have released data which they said showed a significant decline in criminality in six months this year.

The regional Philippine National Police (PNP) office said the number of crimes committed in the region from January to June was more than 40 percent lower than last year’s.

“This clearly shows that our crime prevention programs are effective,” said Chief Supt. Timoteo Pacleb, Northern Mindanao police director.

The regional police also said cases of robbery fell by 66 percent while thefts fell by 71 percent in the same period this year. —Jigger Jerusalem
